CoreView's New License Management reports
One of the major areas of focus for CoreView’s new user experience was to redesign the license management reports to provide an overall better experience. By standardizing these reports, we were able to provide features that were already in other reports within CoreView:
- Saving – You can modify reports to your own preference and save as custom reports which you can then share with other users
- Scheduling – Saved reports can then be scheduled to be run on a one-time or recurring basis, with users having the ability to subscribe to different schedules (daily, weekly, monthly) based on their needs
- Export – Reports can be exported to CVS or XLSX to allow further data manipulation or PDF for easy and safe distribution
- Filters and sorting – Hide columns and data that you don’t wish to see and sort to craft the ideal view.
License Management Centers
With the New UX, license management reporting has been redesigned to focus on several key “centers” or focus areas for license related reporting. This includes license pools, license optimization, subscriptions, and M365 applications. Within each center are several reports organized as tabs at the top of the page. The goal of this design is to group a variety of related reports together to make it easier to find the information you are looking for on each of these topics.
License Pools center
The License pools center contains reports on license and cost distribution as well as monthly snapshot comparisons. You can rapidly look at licenses by pool or by SKU. Tenant admins can easily re-distribute licenses across pools. Here are some of the major changes with the new License Pool Center:
- Transpose Pool and SKU views – On the license pool tab you can instantly switch between looking at the report grouped by license pools displaying the licenses within each pool, or you can switch the view to group by SKU, showing the distribution of that SKU across pools. This makes it extremely easy, for example, to identify where there are unused E5 licenses in your organization.
- Manage License Allocation – This action also allows you to quickly move licenses across pools as needed. Using the example above, if the Sales department had unused E5 licenses and the Operations department had none, the Manage License Allocation wizard walks you through the steps to easily shift license inventory across pools.
- Manage Overhead Costs – For organizations that are managing chargebacks for licenses across business units, the License Cost tab makes it easy to add additional overhead costs to licenses based on users, active user, or pool.
Optimization center
The Optimization center is where you’ll head to identify license saving opportunities. From this report you can review unused, duplicated or over-allocated licenses and take action to keep your license consumption under control. This was introduced in the legacy user experience and is described in this article: Savings Opportunities Dashboard : CoreView. One item of note, the Compare capabilities of this page were migrated to the License pool center Snapshot tab.
Microsoft 365 Apps center
The Microsoft 365 Pro Plus center brings together reports on Microsoft 365 installations, Microsoft Apps licenses, M365 App usage, and M365 App Active users.
Subscriptions center
The Subscriptions center brings together the active subscriptions report as well as subscription history. From this report, you can set the price per unit for each SKU as well as different prices for any SKU that has multiple SKUs. These prices provide the foundation for any cross-charging you may do to departments or business units for license usage.
