Overview
CoreView is the most advanced Microsoft Office 365 management framework for enterprises. Featuring highly scalable technologies, CoreView was designed to service the largest of organizations in their management, delegation, auditing, and reporting needs. As a constantly evolving platform, CoreView securely enforces management policies upon lower-level admins, allowing them to perform their job functions efficiently.
CoreView is a Microsoft Azure-hosted application that serves as a proxy to Office 365, replacing the native Admin Portal. Sitting between the administrator and Office 365, CoreView leverages Azure AD single sign-on to securely control access to its product functions. At the heart of CoreView sits a sophisticated entitlement engine which can be used to control access to all its included functions granularly.
The CoreView solution is cloud-based and therefore can be used by Office 365 administrators from their workplace, from home, or, if necessary, using a mobile device such as a tablet or smartphone. CoreView is optimized for use with Google's Chrome and Microsoft's Edge (Chromium version) web browsers.
Note: While it's possible to use CoreView on other browsers, such as Firefox, Safari, Opera, and so on, those browsers are not supported.
Core Product Functions
Role Based Access Control (RBAC): CoreView allows you to define access to information and actions based on the job function of the person accessing the console. This allows you to give the regional administrator in Chicago access to only the objects in that office. At the same time, the finance manager only can view licensing and service usage reports. Meanwhile, a high-level administrator can only make specific changes to defined users.
License Pool: Directly tie license allocation to specific agencies or business units. This allows you to ensure that the Taxation Agency is limited to using the 30 licenses allotted to them. Should they hire new employees, CoreView will show that their licenses have been consumed, preventing them from grabbing licenses not owned by them. This helps to drive home the need to “true-up” internally before new licenses are purchased.
Delegate Administration: By taking advantage of CoreView's RBAC capabilities, combined with the ability to segment your Office 365 data along business lines, organizations can delegate access to CoreView to local IT administrators, Human Resources, or any individual in your organization who may need to access Office 365 information.
Use Virtual Tenants to segment data along business lines: Define management and reporting tasks by automatically segmenting your enterprise based on specific groupings, such as agency, city, or department. Once segmented, address management and licensing concerns based upon the groupings.
Audit User Activity: Analyze user activity in detail as they interact with Office 365 daily. Narrow the scope of events either per-user or per service to find access times, document names, and specific activities such as sharing access with external users.
Service Usage Reporting: These reports delve into all aspects of your Office 365 tenant. See how your users are using Office 365 and see where your users need help in consuming lesser-used workloads. Where needed, reallocate licensing to more appropriate tiers of service. Reports are available for Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Skype for Business, OneDrive for Business, Office Pro Plus, Mobile Devices, and Yammer.
Adoption Campaigns: Start by using targeted reporting to find which users fail to use specific services. Then, create an automated education and tracking workflow to deliver training materials, track messages read & click-through rates, and finally tie it all back to increases in adoption and service consumption.
On Event Alerting: Send email alert notifications when events are generated about any auditable action. Send alerts when the Governor’s mailbox permissions are modified, or when a non-owner administrator accesses any content. Any activity audited within CoreView can be alerted on. This includes full support for both Office 365 and Azure AD events.
CoreFlow: CoreView is the only unified management solution for Office 365 that can help organizations perform automated end-to-end process workflow for admin tasks, including account provisioning and de-provisioning. Different steps can be chained together, so they are performed in the appropriate sequence. All management actions can be used in a workflow, including custom PowerShell scripts, opening the door to unlimited automation scenarios.
Additional Capabilities
Customers can extend their ability to administer the enterprise by adding in any or all of the following additional components:
Multi-tenant Add On: Multi-tenant capabilities.
Hybrid Add On: Turn CoreView into a single pane of glass for cloud-based and on-premises identity management (IAM). The cost to an enterprise to purchase and implement a full-featured Identity Access and Governance solution can be prohibitive and therefore, many organizations go without. Our CoreHybrid solution expands the management and reporting capabilities of CoreView to include identities and accounts that are on-premises only, providing you with IAM capabilities for a fraction of the cost.
SQL Connector Add On: this add-on provides you with the ability to download your CoreView data into an Azure SQL Server you should provision in your Azure subscription. Thanks to this add-on, you will have the change to build up custom reports by your own integrating a number of additional data sources and leverage the information collected by CoreView integrating data with many different sources, such as SAP, or HR tools.
Teams Advanced Add On: Teams Advanced adds to the already powerful Teams features of CoreSuite to deliver even more information about Teams usage and user experience. This solution provides trending data of Teams usage and quality over time. From these reports and metrics, admins can easily drill down and view user problems for diagnosis.Teams Advanced has insight Microsoft can’t provide, with detailed information on every call so you can track quality of voice, video and sharing. You also get reports by department or group on how Teams services are being utilized.All this insight is available from the CoreSuite management interface that handles all M365 Services.
Architecture Overview
CoreView accomplishes these functions through a multi-layered application interface designed to handle large numbers of users. Data collection is performed against Azure AD and Office 365 through a variety of methods and APIs. However, most of our calls have been migrated to the Graph API. As transient point in time meta-data is collected (for example, mailbox size), CoreView maintains that information to provide historical analytics within our interface.
Some information is still only available via PowerShell, and in those cases, we continue to leverage that interface to collect the required meta-data. If “management actions” have been activated within the CoreView portal to control changes made to user objects, such as changing mailbox permissions, creating/editing Office 365 Groups, or resetting a password, a remote PowerShell host instance is established in the background to execute the requested action. Policies defined within CoreView control the changes any given operator can make, the user objects they are allowed to modify, and the reports they are entitled to execute against those objects.
